“Back To Basics” Debuts At # 1 On Multiple Retail Charts
Los Angeles, CA (August 23, 2006) – Pop superstar Christina Aguilera returns to the top of the charts this week with her third critically acclaimed album, Back To Basics, a double-disc set. Landing at #1 on four of Billboard’s charts with first-week sales of 345,518, this marks her best Soundscan entry to date and the highest first-week sales of the year for a female solo artist. Back To Basics tops the Billboard 200, the Current R&B Overall Album Chart, Digital Album Chart, Mass Merchant Chart. Additionally it is the #1 album in 85 Neilson Soundscan DMA markets and #1 on the Internet Albums Chart. This is Aguilera’s first #1 album since her 1999 self-titled debut in the US.
Additionally, Back To Basics shipped over 2 million worldwide. Less than a week after its release, the album hit #1 in scores of countries including the U.K., Canada, Japan, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Thailand. Back To Basics is led by the sexy upbeat single, “Ain’t No Other Man” which is currently at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
